On 18 February 2024, the introduction of the Ukraine Permission Extension (UPE) scheme was announced. The UPE scheme will open for applications on 4 February 2025 at 9:00 AM GMT.

Who is eligible?

A Ukrainian national, or the family member of a Ukrainian national, who is living in the UK with existing permission under one of the Ukraine schemes, such as the Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine), the Ukraine Family Scheme, or the Ukraine Extension Scheme. In these circumstances, individuals may be eligible to apply under this scheme to continue living in the UK for up to a further 18 months.

The applicant must also meet the following requirements:

• Be in the UK when making an application
• Have been living in the UK (and the Islands, including Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man) since being granted permission or arriving in the UK under one of the Ukraine Schemes.

A non-Ukrainian national applying as a partner will generally need to continue to be in an eligible relationship with a Ukrainian national.

How much does it cost?

This is a free application and is made online. If the application is successful, the applicant will be able to continue to live, work, and study in the UK and access public funds.
