Our Charges - Motoring Offences
Liyen has over 10 years experience working within the criminal defence sector.
She is a qualified Solicitor with Higher Rights of Advocacy enabling her to appear before the Crown Court as well at the Magistrates Court.
We will ensure that you have the opportunity to speak with Liyen before your case goes to Court to ensure that you build a firm working relationship with her. We aim to respond to your telephone calls and emails within 24 hours but usually much sooner.

Motoring Offences – Fees
Guilty Plea
Most guilty plea hearings are completed in one hearing but in some cases a Presentence Report may be required by the court which would result in two hearings.
Fixed price of £750 plus 20% VAT per hearing.
The fee includes:
- taking your instructions before the hearing
- obtaining initial disclosure from the Crown Prosecution Service
- explaining the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the court
- attending court on the day and meeting with you before going into court
- we will discuss the outcome with you and provide you with advice on appeal
The fee does not include:
- instruction of any expert witnesses
- taking statements from any witnesses
- advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing
- advice or assistance in relation to any appeal
Trial or Special Reasons / Exceptional Hardship Arguments
To include representation at your case management/ initial hearing AND trial under a fixed fee:-
Half day Trial – £1500 - 3000 plus 20% VAT
One day Trial – £2500 - 4000 plus 20% VAT
The fee includes:
- taking your instructions before the hearings
- obtaining initial disclosure from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and dealing with any CPS queries from initial hearing to trial date
- explaining the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing
- attending court on both days and meeting with you before going into court
- taking up to 2 defence witnesses statements
The fee does not include:
- preparing any expert witness statement – if required, the expert will prepare this
- Trials lasting more than one day
These estimates depend on the length and complexity of your case. If legal arguments, 2+ defence witness statements or expert witnesses are required the price is likely to increase.
Sentence Hearing (after conviction at Trial)
Fixed price of £750 plus 20% VAT
To include advice on appeal.
Disbursements
Barristers
If Liyen is unable to attend Court for any reason we will instruct a highly qualified Barrister to attend and represent you in her stead. The cost of the Barrister is included in all quotations above. This is subject to the knowledge and experience of the Barrister selected. Prices are commensurate with the Barrister’s skill and expertise. If the Barrister is senior, the quotation will increase to reflect this.
Experts
In certain cases expert evidence may be required to put forward your best possible case. If you are raising post driving alcohol consumption (known as the Hip Flask defence) a toxicologist may charge in the region of £500 - £1000 plus 20% VAT to prepare a report and attend Court as a Defence witness.
Travel
Mileage will be charged at a rate of 45p per mile measured from the office your Solicitor travels from to the Court and back. Parking will be charged on top of this.
