Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Meet our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead Michelle Hurst

Michelle is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and has specialised in childcare and adoption law since 2013. She has extensive experience in this area, having advised parents, family members and court-appointed Children’s Guardians in court proceedings and pre-proceedings involvement.

From an early age Michelle realised that she had a passion for ensuring that everyone had access to the same opportunities, without reference to their race, religion, background, sexual orientation, gender, disability, neuro divergence or any other characteristic.  She has been a champion for those who are under-represented throughout her adult life and this led to her being appointed Lead for Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity for Biscoes in September 2024.

Michelle was delighted to be asked to take on the DEI lead role at Biscoes; The firm is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace and ensuring that we offer a safe space for all staff and clients alike.   Michelle will work alongside senior leadership to develop and implement strategies which promote diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of Biscoes’ operations.

At the core of Michelle’s DEI role is a strong belief that diversity drives innovation, better outcomes for our clients, and a more just, equitable and effective legal profession. Her role will involve developing and delivering training, mentoring initiatives and community engagement opportunities which champion diversity in law. Michelle and Biscoes are committed to promoting a culture of respect, fairness, safety and collaboration for everyone.
